Frequently Asked Questions

CLOTHING: We suggest wearing clothes that are breathable, comfortable and easy to move in. Sturdy shoes with closed toes are necessary, although specialty climbing shoes are not required. There are parts of the canyon that are very narrow, so long sleeves and pants in lightweight fabrics are ideal. All safety gear is provided including helmets, harnesses, gloves, and safety lanyards.

LOCATION: Our park is located on the Navajo Reservation near Page, AZ. When traveling south from Page on Coppermine Rd./N20, you will turn left (east) across from the Lechee Chapter House. When you turn off from the highway, you will follow the dirt road to the top of the hill to the parking area.

WHAT TO BRING: The Via Ferrata course is very narrow in some areas making it difficult to carry extra items. Bags, backpacks, cameras, water bottles, and other items should not be carried on the course due to the risk of dropping them where they can't be retrieved. If you choose to carry a cell phone, it is at your own risk, and must be secured by a lanyard or tether that is unobtrusive to the safety gear. Water can be carried if your bottle can be attached to a carabiner.

PHOTOS: Cameras are not recommended due to the difficulty of carrying items. Photos at the beginning of the tour can be taken before the first rappel into the canyon. Guides will be able to take some photos during the course of the tour, and the photos will be made available for download after the tour.

TIME: We operate on the same time as the city of Page. This is the same as Phoenix Standard Time. We do NOT operate on Daylight Savings time. During part of the year, the Navajo Nation observes Daylight Savings, so be careful to not rely on GPS service to determine the time. Page time remains the same all year round.

ADVENTURE TOLERANCE: The tour involves rappelling up to 60 ft., climbing metal rungs, and moving through narrow passages. If you have a fear of confined spaces or heights, this may not be suitable for you.

EXPERIENCE: We do not require previous climbing or rappelling experience to participate. Your guides will assist you in putting on your safety gear and you will receive an orientation on all safety protocol.

FITNESS: There are several narrow passages that will be difficult for larger people to fit through. If you have any health conditions, please consult your doctor before participating. There is hiking, climbing, and rappelling. The temperatures can be over 100 degrees in the height of summer. There are also narrow portions of the route that prohibit large people from participating.
